Descrip: Provenance: Burroughs Wellington, Atlanta, GA, 1999 This is a well-executed portrait of a turn-of-the-century Giant Schnauzer painted in an extensive landscape on a large scale close to life-size. (Todays Giant Schnauzer typically stands 24 to 27 inches tall at the shoulder.) The painting has a clear, strong signature: G Schonfeld but we have not been able to identify the artist. It was purchased in 1999 from Burroughs Wellington, which closed in 2015 but was a long-time, high-end Atlanta antique shop in the Miami Circle cluster of such boutiques in Buckhead.
